Those signals are: customer ratings and how strong they are for the category; popularity, measured by the number of shopper ratings; price history and the depth of today's discount; product reputation; brand and retailer quality; availability and whether the deal is live; and overall value — a strong rating paired with a genuine discount beats either one alone.

We do not copy retailer marketing copy as our own assessment, we do not let commissions change our rankings, and we do not invent ratings or expert quotes. On comparison pages such as our drugstore dupes hub, a live price is matched to the best in-stock listing we can verify today, and we clearly label the product each live price is shown for. Deals are re-checked continuously and pages carry a last-updated date.
